Vivienne Tam

Vivienne Tam’s label is founded on her East-meets-West sensibility. Growing up in Hong Kong (then a British colony), Tam was well-versed in cultural contrasts at an early age. Beginning in 1994, Tam issued collections with screen-printed images of Chinoiserie, such as Mao and Buddha on garments with Western cuts. Widely successful, Tam’s pieces landed themselves in department stores across the United States but also in museum archives such as the Metropolitan and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Tam’s aesthetic is still highly artistic; her designs range from wear-to-work chic outfits to creative, fashion-forward dresses.
