Growing up in San Francisco, Peter Som was attuned to the principles of purity, form, function, and composition, thanks to his architect parents, who instilled in him an appreciation of aesthetics at an early age. Som later studied art history and studio art at Connecticut College, before going on to attend Parsons School of Design and interning with Michael Kors and Calvin Klein and later at Bill Blass.
