A designer whose craft was honed at Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein, John Varvatos set out on his own in 2000 creating modern American sportswear for men. He does not attempt to re-create the prepster look common among other sportswear giants. His look is a little edgier with a vintage undertone. In 2001, Varvatos was honored with the prestigious CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year Award.
