The self-taught designer Jeremy Laing was born in Canada and spent his childhood on an army base in Germany. Laing studied design in Toronto, and during an exchange at Westminster University in London, he apprenticed with Alexander McQueen, for whom he continued to work freelance following the internship. While at McQueen, Laing demonstrated skill in patternmaking, garment construction, and the use of textile to create form. Interested in garment construction and fine art, Laing draws from couture and tailoring traditions for his collections.
