After rising to fame in the 1990s, Brooklyn-born Isaac Mizrahi has enjoyed a successful career in the fashion industry and in other artistic circles. Known for his contemporary takes on classic .50s silhouettes, Mizrahi starred in the documentary Unzipped, which followed the creation of his 1994 collection. (Mizrahi also made waves in the mid-.90s when he cast the captivating Natalie Portman, only 15 at the time, in his Audrey Hepburn.inspired advertisements.) The entertaining designer later hosted his own shows on the Style and Oxygen networks, became known for his tongue-in-cheek celebrity interviews on the red carpet, and was the costume designer for several off-Broadway productions including The Women. In the early .00s, Target tapped the designer to create a capsule line of affordable dresses and separates. In January 2008, Mizrahi was named creative director for Liz Claiborne.
