Fendi
By ADMIN 07.17.2008
Fendi is an Italian fashion house that was started by Adele Casagrande in 1918 as a fur and leather shop in Rome, Italy. Today, the company is a multinational luxury goods brand owned by LVMH. Currently, notable designer Karl Lagerfeld is its creative director. Starting in 1925, business prospered and Casagrande was pushed to open a bundle of new shops. In the same year, Casagrande changed the name of his original company’s name to Fendi – after his wife. In 1962, he appointed German designer Karl Lagerfeld to move the line forward. Soon after, Lagerfeld created the inverted FF logo that joined the growing list of international status symbols, and then set about to revolutionize the treatment of fur and other clothing. Marvin Traub, the president of Bloomingdale’s, discovered Fendi’s leather goods and introduced them to the United States. Other stores soon followed. In 1969, Fendi presented its first ready-to-wear fur collection at Palazzo Pitti in Florence, bringing continuously modern techniques and imaginative designs to lower-priced furs without sacrificing quality. In 1999, the company sold out to LVMH and Prada. Celebrities that have been seen in Fendi apparel are Mandy Moore, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Mary Kate Olsen, Jessica Simpson, Kate Bosworth, and Gwen Stefani. Fendi clothing is available at most Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Barneys New York stores. Fendi pieces are also available online at eluxury.com.
