Here is a quick look at what Paris’s top designers have in store for fall. Balmain Filled with slick ’80s references—from leather pants and one-shoulder tops to super-tight minidresses—as well as beaded zebra and leopard prints, Balmain’s fall collection possessed an edgy, downtown cool not often associated with the storied French house. Instead of mining the archives, Balmain’s current creative director, Christopher Decarnin, prettified his punk-rock looks by embellishing python-printed jeans with crystal snake accents and adding lace panels to body-hugging black dresses. While Decarnin offered few daytime looks, his glittery separates will thrill today’s party girl.
