Fashion Week Highlights: Day 6 As the industry’s biggest names debut their latest designs, New York Fashion Week is officially turned into high gear.
Anna Sui “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” by WWII-era singing group the Andrews Sisters played at the beginning of Anna Sui’s show, indicating (one would think) a ’40s-inspired collection was about to emerge from backstage. The hypothesis was partly correct, but in true Sui form, the designer toughened up the period’s pinafore dresses, puff-sleeve blouses, and tiered skirts by adding a punk-rock twist—and plenty of edgy accessories.
