We're going to let you in on a little secret. You don't have to be a fabulous dresser, expert conversationalist, or skilled social butterfly to get on everyone's guest list. All you need are a few master guest maneuvers. Implement the following gracious initiatives into your partygoing repertoire and you will not only be on the guest list—you'll own it.  —Erika Lenkert
RSVP: Let your host know you're coming well in advance. It helps clarify the host's headcount and let him or her know that you're excited and not waiting to see if something better comes along. Also, never put your host in the uncomfortable position of having to expand the guest list per your request-it's poor form. Make your host feel important and respected and the favor will be returned.
BRING A HOST OR HOSTESS GIFT: The old adage “Never arrive empty-handed” still applies. Show your thoughtful nature by arriving with a simple gift such as a bottle of wine, box of chocolates, sexy scented candle, mood-enhancing CD, or lively bouquet. Or get creative and match your contribution with the party theme—a disco ball for a bash, fun hats for a brunch, or popcorn and classic candies for movie night.
OFFER TO HELP: A surefire way to get top billing on the guest list is to offer your services. Virtually any host will become very attached to the guest who volunteers to help with pre-party prep, mid-bash buffet-table refills, bartending duty, or post-party cleanup. Arrive with a new sponge, dish towel, and some cute dishwashing gloves and you're golden.
BE A LOW-MAINTENANCE GUEST: The quickest way to lose senior party status is to be a pain. To keep your cool factor, steer clear of heated conversation (unless you know your audience), avoid getting sloppy and making passes at OPPs, and don't make a scene—unless its entertainment value overrides any obnoxiousness.
SEND A THANK-YOU: It's so simple yet so often forgotten: A quick card in the mail will separate you from the rest of the partygoing pack.
