A fresh, new spring coat could be the most versatile piece in your wardrobe. Wear it over a slinky dress with heels and it’s effortlessly sexy—à la Chloé Sevigny. With cropped jeans and flats the look is timeless and chic, à la Sienna Miller. The newest coats feature everything from military and nautical styling to leather trim and metallic fabric—a khaki trench always looks right. Some of the more popular looks on the runway were styled with a pretty ribbon belt tied in a bow. “Ideally you should look for coats with special details,” says celebrity stylist Annie Jagger. To choose the most flattering coat, Jagger says pay attention to fit. “Make sure it flatters your waist line and doesn’t overwhelm you in length,” she says. “Also make sure it fits properly across the shoulders.” Don’t feel limited to a belted trench look.
